Music has always been a part of Karenís life. Karen has magnified her talent through sharing and serving. She enjoys playing the piano, but found her real love of music through singing. When she was crowned Miss Utah 1979-80, she had the wonderful opportunity to share and serve others throughout the State of Utah. She attended the Miss America Pageant, which allowed her to further her education with additional scholarship funds. As a Music Sterling Scholar studying at Weber State University, she performed with many groups under the direction of Evelyn Harris, as well as the LDS Institute. Her talent has graced the stage in other musicals as well; such as Mabel, in Pirates of Penzance, Polly in The Boyfriend, and the Mother in Itís My Life, by Lex de Azevedo. Karen was also apart of the Utah Opera Company from 1989 to 1992. She studied with Naomi Farr and is currently studying with Larry Gee. While with Utah Opera she played Lauretta in Don Giovanni, the Sandman in Hansel and Gretel, and performed in Amahl and the Night Visitors.
